Q: What temperature is an outsole resistant to?

  A: updated (22/03/2012)

That would be entirely dependent upon the manufacturer. However, when it comes to the manufacturer of work shoes/boots/footwear - such as Caterpillar - then some of thier outsole's are resistant to 300 degrees. Caterpillar make their outsole's from a durable rubber compound, whereas outsole's can also be made from other materials such as leather, canvas, plastics and fabrics. Some of these other materials will have a much lower resistance to heat than Caterpillar rubber will have. It's hard to estimate an exact figure, but plastic and rubber will probably provide a more effective barrier to high heats than leather and fabrics.
