Retailers should provide a list of the materials used in the manufacturing
process of the shoes they sell. However, it is noted that many retailers
provide a minimum of details; stating that a shoe is simple leather
or porvair etc. This information usually refers to the upper of
the shoe (the material which surrounds the foot). Ideally a retailer
should also provide the materials used which comprise the lining,
sole of the shoe, and how high the heel is. The most common materials
used to make a shoe's upper are leather, porvair, patent, satin,
raffa, nubuck, pony, suede and fabric.
